Fundraising

Golf Outing

Chris Nelson stated that he would be in contact with the golf course. May postpone tournament to another date, possibly a Saturday, so that more association members could/would register. Clarification was made that the tournament was intended to draw in other, non-association participation instead of tapping families and friends of the association who is over-tapped already.

Coupon Books

Deb Levens presented the coupon books. The August 31, 2003 expiration date error on some of the pages was fixed by attaching a disclaimer page that it should read August 31, 2004. The books sell for $20 each with the association raising $10/book. Each family is responsible to sell/buy 5 books. Hero’s may buy some from us and sell them.

Pancake Breakfast

Rich Reed presented two possible ticket layouts for discussion and decision. It was reported that Lois Pegg had purchased some items already for prizes. Suggestion made that Julie Mandler again be contacted regarding the Chuck-A-Puck (this was a huge success last time). A sign up sheet will be available at registration for workers to sign up. Tickets will also be available at registration. Nancy Loren volunteered to do some PR (newspaper, flyers around town, school, churches, etc). Hope to receive donations of food again and/or discounted prices. Jamie Nelson and Nancy Loren volunteered to help organize the breakfast. Other volunteer to organize as well as workers are still needed.

ace coordinator

In the absence of Dave Schouveller, Rich Reed reported that a dry land clinic would be held. Probably will be at Buffalo’s arena, which has a dry land facility. Any one wanted to coach this year must help out with this. Mike Gonrowski volunteered to be the Coaching Coordinator. He will get in touch with Dave to coordinate duties and plans.

registration Coordinator Report

Lisa Ramerth reported that Registration is ready to go. Forms will be included in the August newsletter as well as on our web site. Completed forms must be turned in on Saturday, September 13 between 9-12 noon as the Big Lake Lion’s Park. Coaches from each level are needed to be present. Ann Reed, Deb Levens and Mike Gonrowski volunteered to also be there to help. There may be an Equipment Swap/Sale that day. In addition to registering, families will also receive their coupon books and pancake breakfast tickets.

OPEN HOUSES

Chris Nelson volunteered to be at the Becker Open House. Big Lake has two separate nights for their school Open House. Deb Levens & Renee Rossman volunteered for one of the nights. Additional volunteers are still needed. Lisa Ramerth will prepare a flyer for distribution at that time.

PRINCETON MEETING

Rich Reed will no longer attend their monthly association meetings. He did state that we were able to purchase some ice at $140/hour from them.

EQUIPMENT

Tim Houghton will continue as Equipment Manager. He will go through our current supply of jerseys to determine what is necessary to purchase for this coming season. Motion: “If jerseys are needed, the Equipment Manager may purchase them.” S/P The cost of the Junior Mite jerseys is already covered in their registration fee.

Derrick Fast, former Association skater, presented his donation of his old goalie equipment to the association. A round of applause was given as well as our thanks.

ARENA REPORT

Lois was not present but left preliminary plans for a possible tenant of our arena. Bob Ballentine is still working with the group, which appears to be very interested in renting our space. It was reported that Monticello association is back in the picture. They may be interested in buying/putting in their own sheet of ice in our arena.

OPEN POSITIONS

Ice Association Secretary – no volunteer

Youth Hockey Treasurer – no volunteer

Newsletter – Jamie Lewis agreed to take this responsibility on.

Executive Officer – now open since Dave Schouveller took on the ACE Coordinator position

Volunteer Coordinator(s) – with the mandatory volunteer fee/four hours of volunteering per family, it is necessary to have one or two individuals keep track of this information.

Fundraising Coordinator – Deb Levens will continue

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Rich Reed presented sample job descriptions he obtained for review for the President, Treasurer, Team Manager, Head Coach, Assistant Coach. He asked that they be reviewed, suggestions made if necessary, and returned to him for distribution to the next person. Chris took them and will get them back to Rich. Hope to have this process completed in 1-2 weeks.

MANDATORY & MONTHLY MEETINGS

Chris will check at the Becker Community Center to see about scheduling the meeting there for a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evening.

Discussion was held on finding a more appropriate location for our monthly meetings. Deb Levens and/or John Gilbertson will check on the Big Lake fire station. Rich Reed will check on the Big Lake Legion. Comment was made that the schools charge $10/hour. The September monthly meeting will be held at Hero’s.

They need to be reviewed, updated and prepared for the Mandatory meeting. A volunteer is needed to prepare them.
